flac --> wav use TLH
http://tlh.easytree.org/

24bit wav > 16bit wav use (one option anyway) Audacity
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Appreciate the help (you too WT) and I learned much from that past thread, but I’m a bit foggy on this. I just downloaded TLH and tried it, but it appears to only let me convert to mp3.? Up to now my needs have been served by what software I have.

I downloaded a show (non dead) that was only offered in 24 bit flac, mp3 or ogg. The taper states ‘not for cd burning’, which I assumed was due to the limits of the download options. Often a 16 bit version is also uploaded, and maybe one will be. I’ll ask the taper (and the band.)

when you drop your flacs into TLH, click "decode audio files" not "convert encoding format", which i suspect is what you might have done if you're coming up flac > mp3

Hard to believe I've been doing this ~ 5 yrs now...of course, brain-dead, techno twit here, but with the help of Arb and others, esp TLH, made my way just far enough along to satisfy my limited needs...have fun!

Flabberghasted
The fun is why I am here! The other night I watched a two part Who dvd called Amazing Journey, and there was some commentary about the bass line riff in My Generation – and I immediately thought of connecting about with you.

Re thread : mission accomplished; w/o audacity. My nch carried the rest of the day. :)

I suppose it wouldn’t be too imprudent to post the cause of this all:
